Are movie trailers really just montages?
Are movie previews/trailers really just montages? can you give me a good example of one? thanks.

- A montage is not the same thing as trailer. A trailer gives us snippets of the entire movie. A montage is a meld of forward flashes to illustrate the progression on an event like falling in love, a growth of a child. I cannot think of an example off the top of my head, but I can lay one out for you... Katie's meets Rob by happenchance, jumping into the same cab in New York city. They giggle and talk and get along infamously, and set a date to meet again. As Rob watches Katies leave the cab, she turns and waves. As the cab drives away, Rob day dreams (all shown to us on film) as running with Katie on a beach, laying with her in a field of flowers, getting married, dancing, having a baby, etc. It is this "dream sequence" that is the montage.
