I recently read that two more apocalyptic movies are in the works, which I find very strange when all the major past attempts at making these futuristic movies have resulted in absymal box office takings and very poor reviews from critics and film goers alike. Does Hollywood learn from its mistakes? The most recent list of poor movies include Battlefield Earth, Judge Dredd, the Postman, Waterworld, etc. Even the remarkable Blade Runner did poorly at the box office. Although Terminator and the Matrix Triology were massive hits, a considerable part of those two movies were set in the present, so to speak. The public just doesn't have an appetite for movies based in a barren, post apocalyptic land so why is Hollywood so determined to spend millions on producing movies like I am legend, etc. This money is better spent elsewhere.
