How far in advance are movie trailers released?

If a movie is coming out in December, when is the first trailer released? How do people find out what movie to got to to see the first trailer for a movie they're excited about. (Ex: People went to see Scooby Doo and Happy Feet just to see Harry Potter trailers.)

  1. It just depends on how and when the studios want to market their film. There is no time limit in which to show the trailers. Some studios don't even release trailers until a week or 2 before, they usually bomb in the box office, but the studios know they will. (they are usually just fillers till the real blockbusters come out) Some studios have started to market other films by putting blockbuster trailers on the bombs. You just have to watch for the trailers. News of new trailers usually gets around pretty quick amongst movie fans. Just keep an eye and ear out for them.
  2. It really depends on the movie. If it is a popular movie with a fan base it will usually be released a little earlier than most movies. Here are a few websites with info on trailers and upcoming trailers. And many times the decision to release a trailer before a movie is a last minute decision by the studios. But these websites, and the websites for the particular movie will let you know when a trailer is being released. http://www.moviecities.com/latest http://www.matttrailer.com/ http://www.cinematrailers.net/
  3. It depends on which movie it is. I usually watch new movie trailers in HQ from here. http://www.hqmovietrailers.com/
