Is it possible to do movie reviews on Youtube without violating copyright laws?

As long as you don't spoil the movie or give away too much of the plot, etc? what if you just take the movie case itself, put it in front of a camera and then just talk about why you liked/hated it? that may not seem like much of a review but wouldnt it be better than risking copyright infringment?

  1. Youtube has changed- my daughter hates it now ever since Google took over youtube they are very strict and removed a lot of videos and a lot of them are people who put movie trailers on or movies
  2. Movie reviews don't violate copyright. Spoilers have nothing to do with anything- except possible angering the audience that does not want them. If you are looking to show clips of the movies- then no. You cannot do show them without violating copyright. HOWEVER, most studios/prod cos would not go after you (legally) for a review. Just give them credit... and be prepared to stop and pull them if you are contacted by a legal team.
  3. TV movie review shows have permission from the studios and distributors to use clips from the movies they review. If you do not have those permissions then you are violating copyright laws and you cannot use the clips in your review. However, there is no copyright on the use of any original content created by you. And, you can give away as much of the plot as you want. However, if you get a reputation for doing so, you may find that your viewership declines. .
