Is it legal to write about news stories and movie trailers?

I was wondering if it was legal for: Linking to a movie trailer off YouTube and If it was legal to write about a news story on the internet. For example, if I saw an article about a movie and it's production date, new actors or actors dropping out and wanted to write about it on my own website, is that legal? Thanks :)

1. uh, yes. I am curious, why would you think otherwise, since you just described 99% of blogs and may websites check out www.huffingtonpost.com you might find their entertainment section enlightening
2. If you're just posting something from another source, you must cite the source. Analyzing things are fine. If you use any direct quotes, you must also cite your source.
3. yes this is legal but just as if you were writing a term paper or something of that nature you need to disclose the source when using a quote.
